LIFENET INTERNATIONAL HIRES VICE PRESIDENT OF PROGRAMS: DAVID SCHEIMAN

Washington, DC – July 2, 2019: LifeNet International has hired David Scheiman as Vice President of Programs. Scheiman brings more than 30 years of experience in international health program management and leadership to his role at LifeNet, including 26 years at World Vision.  Along with his extensive experience, Scheiman’s educational background includes Master of Public Health and MBA degrees. Scheiman’s addition to the LifeNet executive team will further propel the organization as it continues to grow and scale its impact in healthcare in sub-Saharan Africa.

“LifeNet is at an exciting inflection point, with significant growth potential both in terms of the number of health centers we partner with in our current countries of operation as well as new potential countries where we can meet critical needs,” said LifeNet President Dave Evans. “It is very important for us to maintain our high-quality programming as we embark on this growth initiative, requiring a leader with both on-the-ground experience in program operations as well as strategic management and leadership. David is the right person for this job and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the LifeNet team.”

After an extensive search, Scheiman was hired as Vice President of Programs for LifeNet and will lead international operations and programs, including expansion into new countries in Africa. Scheiman has served at various levels of international health programs. Early in his career, he served in the Peace Corps in Tunisia and Cameroon, worked as a project manager in Mauritania, and was an international program officer in Mali.

More recently, Scheiman served in several senior leadership roles in World Vision, including Director and then Senior Director of Africa programs, specifically in integrated programs and program effectiveness and impact. He concluded his 26 years with World Vision as the Senior Director/Senior Technical Advisor for Health in the International Programs Group, where he led a team of health professionals, development specialists, and marketing writers in the development and management of World Vision health programs in Somalia, Zambia, Uganda, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, and Zimbabwe.

Scheiman’s wealth of experience in the field and in strategic management and leadership, coupled with his educational background and expertise have uniquely positioned him to effectively lead LifeNet’s programs and international operations as the organization continues to scale in Africa. Under his leadership, LifeNet expects to improve tens of millions more patient visits over the next five years.

“I am honored to be part of LifeNet International, which is providing high quality healthcare to underserved communities in Africa in a very cost-effective manner,” said Scheiman. “I look forward to leading our dedicated team and partners in the field who serve those who traditionally lack access to excellent healthcare.”
